JULIE TURNEY'S STORY
FROM BURNOUT TO BRILLIANCE
Julie Turney was born in Manchester, UK. Her father was from Jamaica, and her mother is from Barbados, where she currently resides with her husband and three children.

Julie got into HR after a traumatic experience in her first job. She then embarked on a journey to discover a role where leaders genuinely cared about employee well-being and career development.

This journey finally led Julie to HR, where she says HR chose her and not the other way around. After two very scary burnout experiences and a pandemic, Julie decided to explore HR outside of the corporate setting, where she created HR@Heart Consulting Inc.

Now, Julie supports HR professionals struggling with burnout, compassion fatigue, workplace trauma, and career frustration and practices HR as a Consultant.
JULIE BELIEVES YOU CAN PRACTICE HR ON YOUR TERMS
In September 2019, Julie started a year of yes, during which she said yes to speaking, hosting, and learning more about what she loves about HR and how to be more intentional about practising HR in a way that fulfils her.

Today, Julie is an HR Coach, TEDx and public speaker, workshop facilitator and host of the speaker series DisruptHR, holding the franchise for Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica.

Julie is also the host of the HR Sound Off Podcast show. Julie created this show to magnify HR voices by sharing their origin stories and demystifying misconceptions about the profession.

Julie is the author of the book Confessions of an HR Pro: Stories of Defeat and Triumph and the C.A.R.E HR workbook and guide.
