MEET JULIE TURNEY
Redefining What HR Can Be For the Profession, the People, and the Future of Work

Julie Turney’s journey into HR didn’t start with a textbook or a classroom. It began with a traumatic early workplace experience that awakened a lifelong commitment: to make work better, healthier, and more human for the people who hold organizations together. Born in Manchester to Jamaican and Barbadian parents and now rooted in Barbados, Julie carries a perspective shaped by resilience, multiculturalism, and deep compassion, the foundations of her life’s work.

In 2019, she began a transformational “year of yes,” exploring speaking, coaching, community building, and reimagining how HR professionals could thrive. That leap led her to found HR@Heart Consulting Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting HR practitioners who are navigating burnout, workplace trauma, and career frustration.

Today, Julie is recognized globally as an HR Coach, TEDx speaker, workshop facilitator, and the regional license holder for DisruptHR in Barbados, Trinidad, and Jamaica, creating platforms for fresh Caribbean perspectives and bold conversations about the future of work.

A Global Perspective with Caribbean Roots
Julie’s influence extends across the region and beyond. Her insights have been featured on TEDx, the Forbes HR Council, Morning Barbados, Smile Jamaica TV, Sunrise Morning Show, and The Morning Brew in Trinidad. She continues to build communities, elevate emerging HR leaders, and shape conversations about the future of work across the Caribbean and globally.

The Work Continues
Whether coaching HR teams, transforming organizational cultures, designing wellbeing strategies, or teaching HR professionals how to thrive instead of survive, Julie stands as a catalyst for a more modern, courageous, and compassionate HR profession. She is not just talking about redefining HR; she’s doing it. And she’s bringing the global HR community with her.

A Voice for HR, Rooted in Purpose, Driven by Humanity

Across every platform, Julie advocates for an HR profession that prioritizes humanity, accountability, and modern tools, from data and analytics to AI, without ever losing sight of the people behind the policies.
