Officially back at my desk, and it feels good!

I’m officially back to work this week, and as much as I valued working remotely, it feels wonderful to be sitting at my desk again with three screens to navigate instead of one laptop screen.


This season taught me something invaluable about who I choose to work with: I truly love my clients. When I shared what was happening in my personal life, every one of them responded with compassion: “Take your time with your family, just let us know when you’re back.”


I stepped away for four weeks. They waited. And now they’re not just waiting, they’re excited, ready to hit the ground running with me. That kind of trust and care? It changes everything.


Over the years, I’ve learned that not every client relationship is the same. Some see you as a transaction, while others see you as a partner. The difference shapes not only the quality of the work, but also the energy you bring to it.


Here's what I know about choosing to work with clients who care about you:

❇️ They see you as a partner, not just a provider.

❇️ They value your well-being as much as your deadlines.

❇️ They create space for creativity and innovation.

❇️ They remind you that HR is about people, not just processes. They don't just see me as an HR Specialist; they see Julie the human being.


I value these clients far more than those who want to throw money at me for a quick fix. I don’t do quick fixes. And I don’t work with organizations that fail to recognize the transformative power of treating people with dignity and respect.


What’s happening now:


1️⃣ Jumping into final preparations for DisruptHR Jamaica Edition 2.0 (3 weeks away! 🫢).

2️⃣ Preparing my first presentation in over 3 years on building your presence on LinkedIn for a local college.

3️⃣ Continuing to design a leadership program and engagement framework for a client.

4️⃣ Resuming one of my favorite projects, where I am helping a company to revamp and coach an HR team as their business prepares for the future.


And very soon, I’ll be starting a new series on how to develop or curate your services as an HR specialist outside of corporate, filled with tips and tricks for HR professionals worldwide.
